Reverend Peter Carl Hoffmann, age 75, passed from this life on July 25th, 2017 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Crown Point, IN, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Elaine (Bicker) Hoffmann. He is survived by five children - Carl E Hoffmann, Thomas J Hoffmann, Marcy H (Mikal) Elamin, Paul K (Sue) Hoffmann, and George O (Michele) Hoffmann, siblings - Paul (Jane) Hoffmann, Kate (Brian) Bates and John Hoffmann, seven grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pastor Hoffmann, was born on June 5th, 1942 in Bronxville, NY to Reverend Oswald C.J. and Marcia Hoffmann. He completed his college studies in Fort Wayne, IN and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He married Elaine (Bicker) Hoffmann in 1966 and together raised 5 children.
Pete was a beloved Pastor and teacher, known for his unique sense of humor and his deep faith and hope in Christ. Over the years, he faithfully taught at Luther High School South in Chicago and served as Pastor at Chatham Fields Lutheran Church, St. Stephens Lutheran Church and Good Shephard. He found joy in teaching his students and going above and beyond in helping countless individuals and families in need; demonstrating Christ's love.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 7th from 4pm-8pm at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave, Cedar Lake, IN 46303.
The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 8th at 10am, Trinity Lutheran Church, 631 W Commercial Ave, Lowell, IN 46356.
