Paul Ruiz, age 88, of Hammond, passed away December 22, 2019. He is survived by his step-sons, Randy (Tina) Goff and Paul (Paula) Goff; sister, Mary (nee Ruiz) Hinojosa; brother, Mike (Kathy) Ruiz; nieces, Linda Scartozzi, Cathy (Mark) Stemper, Jacquline Hinojosa, Tammy Bennet, Nancy (Pat Bodin) Ruiz, Diane (Dave) Olson, Linda Hyman, Debra Gondek, and Christina Ruiz; nephews, Orlando (Joyce) Delgado, Jayson (April) Delgado, and Michael Ruiz. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (nee Jauregue) Ruiz; wife, Vivian Ruiz; step-son, Gregory Goff, and niece, Lydia Graska.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, January 17, 2020, from 4 pm to 7 pm at BURDAN FUNERAL HOME, 12901 Wicker Ave. Cedar Lake. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 6:30 pm.

Paul was born January 15, 1931 in Wells, Minnesota. He was raised in Fort Wayne, and lived in East Chicago and Hammond, Indiana. He served in the United States Air Force from 1948-1952. He was a star athlete in football and basketball among other sports at St. Vincent Villa Orphanage in Fort Wayne. Paul worked for the East Chicago Water Department for ten years and at Kelly Buick in Fort Wayne. Pauly was quite a character and was loved by his family and friends. He loved to make jokes and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our Pauly.
