Michael (Mike) P. Shoemaker, age 45, of Cedar Lake, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 after a nine month battle with stomach cancer. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara; two daughters, Ashley (Austin) Suprenant and Cheyanne Shoemaker, who is expecting Mike's first grandchild, Rylynn Michael; father and step-mother, Robert and Galia Shoemaker; mother Vikki Hartle; brother, Ben (Lisa) Shoemaker; sister, Becky (Mike) Knowlton, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mike was a proud member of Laborer's Local 81, a beloved employee of Town and Country Paving in DeMotte. In the fall and winter, you were most likely to find Mike sitting in a duck blind or walking a field with his daughters, father, and his beloved friends, which gave him the greatest joy.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 11 am at the American Reformed Church, 1021 S. Halleck St., DeMotte, IN 46310. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be recieved by the family for stomach cancer research. Burdan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
