Joseph A. Carns, Sr., age 78, of Cedar Lake passed away May 12, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda; Children, Joseph (Gloria) Carns, Jr., Carrie Shute, Carl Carns, Cindy (Tom) Miller, Diana (Chris) McDade; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Half-sisters Pat Marchand and Debra Stephens. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 4-7 pm at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave., Cedar Lake. A memorial service will take place at 6:30 pm Tuesday at Burdan Funeral Home Chapel.

Joe lived his life to the fullest with a great sense of humor. He had a heart of gold and was always ready to help anyone in need. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Joe's memory would be appreciated.
