James Mickeal "Mike" Stamper, 76, passed away Friday February 14, 2020 from a long-time battle with dementia. He was born May 6, 1943 in Soldier, Kentucky. Mike grew up in St. John, Indiana where he met his wife and started his family in Cedar Lake Indiana.
Mike worked for Ford Motor Company in the maintenance department for forty years until he retired in 2002. Mike always dreamed of owning some land so he then decided to move to Tennessee. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and working on his farm. After a long day he enjoyed sitting on the back porch drinking an ice cold Old Style. Mike is survived by his daughter, Jami (Tony) Rega of Cedar Lake, IN and son, Michael (Loretta) Stamper of Manchester, TN. Grandchildren, Sandra Floyd, Chad (Tiffany)Sitz, Ryan Stuppy, Mickelle (John) Spray: Great-Grandson's Dylan Marek and Kohl Stamper: Great-Granddaughter's, Chloe and Carlie Sitz. Also survived by one sister Kim (Frank) Gavelek of Lowell, IN. and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Nita Stamper; sister Brenda Cote; brother, Carlos Stamper and his parents , Arnold and Elena Stamper.
The Stamper family is grateful to all the staff at Bailey Manor in Manchester, Tennessee who provided wonderful care for Mike.
