Gilbert J. Welter, Jr., age 86, of Leoma, TN, formerly of Cedar Lake, passed away on September 13, 2017. He is survived by his children; Danny Welter, Mary Yardley, Gene Welter, and Tim (Kim) Welter; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Beverley, and two sons, Jim and John.

Friends may greet the family on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 3 pm to 8 pm at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave. (corner of US41 and 129th Ave.) Cedar Lake. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 19th at Burdan Funeral Home Chapel, Father Mike Maginot, officiating. Burial to follow at German Methodist Cemetery.

Gilbert was an Ironworker for Local 63 out of Chicago for over 40 years. He was the best dad and grandpa in the whole world. Gilbert loved his animals, too. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
