Prayer Emblem

Edith Beatrice Berg, age 93, passed away May 25, 2017. Edith was born January 27, 1924 in Kentucky to parents Oscar and Carrie Skeen. At age two, Bea's life turned tragic with the loss of her mother. At age four, Bea welcomed a new stepmother, two half-brothers and two step brothers who stayed close throughout her life. On November 10, 1942 she married A. Kent Berg. She lost a brother, sister-in law, and their three year old child to a drunk driver.

Kent and Bea had four daughters who gave them nine grandchildren. Later in marriage, they loved to travel and they had a few wonderful trips. In the spring of 1977, Kent became ill. By July of that year, Bea became a widow at the age of 53. Life never allowed Bea the chance to be pampered. At age 65, she became a dispatcher for the local police.

One of her greatest loves was San Diego, CA, where her brother, Clint, and his family lived. She took many trips and left part of her heart there.

Bea is survived by her four daughters, Linda (Glen) Gadrim, Judith (Bill) Georgiadis, Gwendolyn (Terre) Hammonds, and Nanette (Herb) Powers; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 4pm to 7om at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave. (corner of US41 and 129th Ave.) Cedar Lake, IN. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, May 31st at 10 am at Burdan Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Mary Huisman, officiating. Interment to follow at German Methodist Cemetery.
