Love Emblem

Dolores Lapota (nee Bocian), 94, of Crown Point, IN, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2018. She is survived by eight children, Ellen (Tom) Marshall, Debbie (Dan) LoCascio, Joyce (Rick) Pietrzak, Joe (Diane) Lapota, Mike (Ellen Jo) Lapota, Gail (Tony) Molinaro, Tom (Kris) Lapota and Tracey (Vernon) Beigay; as well as two sisters, Colette Buis and Alice (Bob) Stake. Dolores leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren with one more on the way and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe (Bubs); sister, Bernadine Bocian; brother, Jerry Bocian; grandson, Andy Pietrzak; and one stillborn daughter, Babette.

Over the years she enjoyed hosting large family gatherings for holidays, including Christmas and the Fourth of the July. Playing Yahtzee with Bernadine. Wednesday night chats with Vern and visits to South Carolina, spending time with the LoCascios each summer. Scratching lottery tickets with Joe, and Sunday visits with her great-grandsons, especially when Henry would sing You Are My Sunshine to her. She lived a long, happy life and will be forever missed.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 22, from 2:00-7:00 pm at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Avenue in Cedar Lake, IN. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 23, at 10:00 am at Holy Name Church, 11000 W. 133rd Avenue in Cedar Lake, IN, with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 8178 Cline Avenue in Schererville, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Anthony Village in Dolores's memory would be greatly appreciated.
