Dennis L. Williams, age 75, of Hammond passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia; children, R. Scott (Lanice) Williams, Catherine (Scotty) Thompson, Steven D. Williams, and Caren (Joseph) Furdeck; Popeye to Nicholas (Jacqueline) and Cody Thompson, Coleman Williams, Chloe Williams, and Steven, Joseph, Anthony, and Jack Furdeck; 3 great-grandchildren, Landen, Madison, and Kendra Thompson; 2 sisters, Dr. Patricia Williams-Boyd and Linda Cochrane; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 2 to 7 pm at Burdan Funeral Home 12901 Wicker Ave (corner of Rt 41 & 129th Ave) Cedar Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 am Directly at Holy Name Catholic Church 11000 W 133rd Ave Cedar Lake, with Fr. Lawrence Kew officiating.
Dennis was a retired detective sergeant from the Hammond Police Department where he served as a narcotics officer, SWAT team hostage negotiator, firearms instructor, and homicide detective. He was an extremely talented and outstanding musician and artist. Dennis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
