Cecelia Frances Zahler ( nee: Maciejewski), age 83, of Schererville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her son Richard Morgan (Donna Sue)Zahler, Jr. of Lowell; four daughters Kathryn Ann(Rich) Colvin of Demotte, Susan Elizabeth Wright of Schererville, Diane Marie(Alex)Devine of Schererville, Donna Mary(Patrick)Lukasik of Lowell; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Cecelia was preceded in death by Richard M. Zahler, her devoted husband of 64 years.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave. (corner of US 41 and 129th Ave.)Cedar Lake, IN 46303. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, December 21st at 10:30 am DIRECTLY at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Schererville, Father Benjamin Ross, officiating.

Cecelia loved to laugh and had a mischievous sense of humor. She was kind and thoughtful and loved spending time with her family. Cecelia will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Cecelia retired as Executive Office Manager from the Union Pacific Railroad, Dolton, Illinois, after 28 years of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Harbor Light Hospice in Crown Point, Indiana.
