On Saturday, January 20, 2018 Bobby Whisler found his rest in Jesus' arms at the age of 93. He is survived by daughters Janie (Tom) VanHoose, Jennifer (Bob) Doriot, Jan (Jay) Means; 7 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren; and dear friends Rod and Wanda (#4) Ashcraft. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, Edie; infant daughter Cheryl, three brothers, and six sisters.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, January 23,2018 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at BURDAN FUNERAL HOME, 12901 Wicker Ave. (corner of US 41 and 129th Ave.) Cedar Lake. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 10 am at BURDAN FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, Pastor Ken Puent, officiating. Interment to follow at German Methodist Cemetery.

The son of Carl and Mabel Whisler, Bob grew up in rural Iowa and later served in the US Navy. On July 8, 1945, he married Edith Proctor. Bob retired from Local 150 and served as a reserve officer with Cedar Lake Police Dept for 21 years. He was a 72-year member of the American Legion, a member of the Cedar Lake United Methodist Church, and delighted in touring the U.S. with Edie on their Goldwing . Bob enjoyed sports and embraced the Chicago Cubs and Purdue teams. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cedar Lake United Methodist Church or to Project Love Food Pantry Building Fund.
