Condolence & Memory Journal

Lewie & Margie, I just learned about your father's homegoing. He will be greatly missed, I know. My prayers are with you all as your hearts are drawn heavenward more and more.

Lew has been part of my life for 60 years. I grew up in Waverly, NY, (as did he) a generation after him. His mother and father often looked after me when I had short legs. That couple always made me laugh, so it was no surprise to me when I knew Lew was bringing his family east from CHICAGO I was happy knowing that soon he would have me rolling with laughter. His wife, Marge, sang at our church like a 19th century diva. His children were (are) wonderful and Lew was true to God's command, Be fruitful and multiply. Seven children. I lost track of the grands and the great grands. One summer he invited me to ride back to Chicago from Waverly, and then gave me a world class tour of the Windy City. It was almost overwhelming for a young boy from a farming community, but his love, generosity, and infectious laughter changed the course of my life. I'm happy that he is with his beloved Marge again, but I will always have a deep love for this man until I leave this world as well.

My deepest condolences to the family. Dad is in a better place now with Jesus and Mom and all the saints who have gone ahead. He has joined the great cloud of witnesses to cheer us on as we run this race. We will miss him for a season but we will see him again. What a glorious day that will be.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 (NIV) 13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

1 Thessalonians 4:18 (NIV) Therefore encourage one another with these words.

What a devout man of God Lew was. He was an example of what every Christian should be. He will be greatly missed.
